Image 28: This manuscript contains several letters of introduction written by officials at each stage of the journey of a Chinese monk, requesting officials to help the monk on his journey. The letters are written in Tibetan, showing that the journey probably took place during the Tibetan occupation of East Central Asia, from mid-8th to mid-9th centuries. Dunhuang, Cave 17.
